I am the eldest of three daughters working in the business and have been managing the shop since 2016. I love food, speaking to people and the environment. I also spend a lot of time in the kitchen at home cooking and baking with my two little boys, so this is my perfect job.

Have you ever wondered what really happens behind the scenes on a working farm?

This August, we’re opening the gates once again for one of our most popular events – an exclusive behind-the-scenes tour of Ardross Farm, hosted by sisters Claire and Nikki.

Limited to just 20 guests, this relaxed walking tour gives you access to parts of the farm that are normally closed to visitors. It’s a chance to see first-hand how your food is grown, produced and prepared, while asking as many questions as you like along the way.

We’ll begin at the farm shop before heading out across the farm, following the journey of our food from field to fork. Along the way, you’ll visit the places where it all begins—from grazing pastures and vegetable fields to our commercial kitchen, where home-grown ingredients are transformed into the products you’ll find on our shelves.

What you’ll discover

  • Walk amongst our herd of 100% grass-fed cattle as they graze the pastures.
  • Visit our vegetable fields and polytunnels, where many of the vegetables in the shop begin life from seed.
  • Step inside our commercial kitchen to meet the team who transform our home-grown produce into soups, pies, ready meals and more.
  • Learn how we grow our own cereals, mill them into flour and use them to create products such as fresh pasta and baked goods sold in the farm shop.
  • Hear the story of Ardross Farm and how we’ve evolved into a farm, farm shop and kitchen, all working together to produce great local food.
  • Discover what it means to farm sustainably, from improving soil health and encouraging biodiversity to producing high-quality, fully traceable food.
  • If harvest is underway, you may even see the combines working in the fields.

Whether you’re passionate about food, interested in farming, curious about sustainability or simply enjoy discovering where your food comes from, this is a unique opportunity to experience a real working farm in action.

The tour finishes back at the farm shop, where we’ll enjoy a selection of samples made using our own home-grown produce. It’s the perfect chance to relax, chat and ask any final questions before exploring the shop at your leisure.
