I am the eldest of three daughters working in the business and have been managing the shop since 2016. I love food, speaking to people and the environment. I also spend a lot of time in the kitchen at home cooking and baking with my two little boys, so this is my perfect job.

Farm to Barn – what is it?

chef preparing food

Ever wondered what a Farm to Barn Supper is all about? It’s not just a meal — it’s a whole experience. Imagine a cosy evening in a beautiful barn, long tables full of people sharing laughter and conversation, and dishes made from the very best local and farm-grown ingredients. With chefs and farmers talking you through each course, it’s a chance to connect with the food, the story, and the people behind it.

Farm to Barn Supper – Your Questions Answered

We’ve had lots of people ask what our Farm to Barn Suppers actually are — and we get it! They’re not your average night out, but that’s exactly what makes them so special. So, here’s a little guide to what to expect when you join us for one of these unforgettable evenings.

What exactly is a Farm to Barn Supper?

Our Farm to Barn Suppers are relaxed evenings celebrating the best of what we grow here at Ardross, cooked up by the incredibly talented team at Pratis Barns, just outside Leven. Together, we create a seasonal menu that showcases our home-grown produce alongside food from other brilliant local producers. It’s all served in their stunning barn setting — candlelight, laughter, and a true sense of connection between farm and fork. During the meal, the chefs and farmers talk you through each course, sharing the story behind the ingredients and how the dishes came together.

How is it different from going to a restaurant?

It’s not just a meal — it’s an experience. You’re dining just a few miles from where the ingredients were grown and reared, hearing the stories behind the food, and enjoying it in a setting that feels both rustic and elegant. The chefs at Pratis Barns work absolute magic with our ingredients, bringing out the best of each season in a relaxed, friendly atmosphere.

Do I need to book?

Yes, absolutely. These evenings are small, intimate, and always sell out quickly. Booking in advance is essential — once they’re gone, they’re gone!

What kind of food do you serve?

The menu changes every time, depending on what’s in season. Expect dishes featuring our own grass-fed beef or lamb, freshly dug vegetables, and beautiful produce from nearby farms and makers. The Pratis chefs craft something unique for every event — food that’s both comforting and refined, full of flavour and local pride. And throughout the meal, we’ll share a little about the journey of each dish — from the field, the farm, and the kitchen — so you really know what’s on your plate.

What’s the atmosphere like?

Think long, shared tables, flickering candles, and a barn full of happy people enjoying good food and good company. It’s elegant but never formal — more like a wonderful dinner party where you leave with a full stomach and a happy heart. Sitting at a long table with others makes it sociable and fun — you often end up chatting to new friends along the way!

What should I wear?

Whatever you feel comfortable in! The setting is relaxed but beautiful, so most people opt for smart-casual. The barns are warm and welcoming, but a cosy layer never goes amiss.

Do you cater for dietary requirements?

We can only cater for vegetarian requirements. Because the menu is created just days before each supper based on what’s in the fields, it’s impossible to offer other substitutions. If you’re vegetarian, just let us know when booking and we’ll make sure you have a menu that’s just as special.

Is alcohol served?

Yes, there’s a full bar with carefully chosen wines, beers, and spirits — including our very own Rob’s Lager. Everything is selected to complement the food and the feel of the evening perfectly.

Can I buy tickets as a gift?

Definitely! These suppers make wonderful presents. You can buy gift vouchers for someone special — they’ll join the supper at a long, shared table with other guests, which makes for a really sociable and memorable evening. The chefs and farmers will talk through each course during the meal, so it’s not just a gift of food but an experience too.

Why do people love it so much?

We think it’s the mix of everything — the food, the setting, the people, and the stories behind every dish. One guest recently told us that our autumn Farm to Barn Supper “blew their Italian foodie experience out of the water.” We couldn’t ask for higher praise than that!

How do I book?

You can book online through the Pratis Barns website: book here
Or to avoid the booking fee you can book in our shop or give us a call: 01333 331400
