On the 27th March, we kicked off our brand-new Farm to Barn event series with a fabulous evening celebrating everything that’s wonderful about springtime produce and community. Partnering with fellow family and local business Pratis Barns meant that we had the perfect setting and expert chef skills to create a truly magical event. We are so delighted to organise this event to celebrate twenty years of Ardross Farm Shop and by celebrating local Fife produce.
Despite the lashing rain and decidedly un-spring-like weather, Pratis Barns was warm, inviting, and cosy.. Guests were welcomed with a glass of fizz and an array of beautifully presented and delicious canapes such as Ardross lamb and Baldinnie quail scotch eggs, East Neuk Kilnhouse popcorn mussels and smoked trout, dill & creme fraiche blini. During this time Patrick, from Pratis Barns and Nikki warmly welcomed everyone to the Farm to Barn event and groups were led to the tables. The tables were beautifully decorated with Ardross rosemary and bay leaves and an array of candles.
Freshly baked bread and Ardross beetroot panna cotta with beetroot five ways was the starter which was followed by our own short ribs cooked slowly in Rob’s lager with smoked bone marrow mash, beef dripping carrots, savoy cabbage, spring greens and bordelaise sauce. The meat just fell apart and those carrots! We had a cheese board to follow which of course had to feature Fife’s best, multi-award winning, cheese maker, St.Andrews Farmhouse Cheese with our heritage grain oatcakes and chilli jam. This was finished with the most delicious Ardross rhubarb & ginger cranachan, Ardross honeycomb and Kingsbarns whisky. To end the evening we had handmade chocolate truffles with Modern Standard coffee, which is hand roasted in Glenrothes.
The supper was a true showcase of the very best from Ardross, local producers, and Scottish growers — and it didn’t disappoint. The food was picked from our field and taken straight to Pratis where their talented team turned it into the most delicious meal. As you can see from the testimonial below we’ve had wonderful feedback.
We still have the rest in the series of Farm to Barn events to go, summer, autumn and winter. The date for the summer one is Thursday 26th June and tickets will be released soon. We love celebrating local Fife produce and can’t wait to welcome you to the next Farm to Barn event.
