The evenings are drawing in, and we’ve just had more of our tallow candles made for the farm shop. It feels like just the right time to bring one home.
There are two scents at the moment. Fields & Forests smells like the forests of North East Fife, while cinnamon and orange is warm and comforting for the colder evenings ahead. Both are scented with essential oils.
The candles begin with tallow from our own 100% grass-fed cattle. Tallow can easily become a waste product, so we wanted to make something useful and lovely from it. The ceramic vessels are made by Jen & Tonic Pottery in Cupar, and Chanelle at Pillar & Taper pours the candles here in Fife.
We also wanted the vessel to be worth keeping. Once the candle has finished, you can clean it out and use it as a coffee cup. The ceramics are suitable for hot drinks and dishwasher safe, or you can have the vessel refilled as a candle.
From our cattle to the local people who make each finished candle, there’s a story in every part of it. Both scents are back in stock now or can be purchased on our website. Come and smell them for yourself next time you’re in the shop.
