I am the eldest of three daughters working in the business and have been managing the shop since 2016. I love food, speaking to people and the environment. I also spend a lot of time in the kitchen at home cooking and baking with my two little boys, so this is my perfect job.

Immediate Start Available

Ardross Farm Shop is looking for a full-time Shop Assistant to join our award-winning team.

This is not a job for someone who wants to stand behind a till all day.

We are a busy, fast-paced food shop where customer service comes first. Our customers expect friendly, knowledgeable and efficient service, and we’re looking for someone who enjoys being part of a hardworking team and takes pride in doing a job well.

A huge proportion of what we sell is grown, reared, made or prepared by us here at Ardross, alongside products from fantastic local suppliers. From homegrown vegetables and grass-fed beef to our own pasta, lager and tallow products, you’ll be helping customers discover some of the very best food Fife has to offer.

Alongside serving customers, a large part of this role involves receiving, unpacking and merchandising deliveries. Deliveries arrive throughout the week from local producers, couriers and haulage companies, and keeping stock moving efficiently from delivery to shelf is a vital part of the job.

Our shop is busy almost every day of the year, so we’re looking for someone who thrives in a fast-paced environment, enjoys being active and isn’t afraid of hard work.

We’re looking for someone who:

• Loves good food and appreciates local produce.
• Provides exceptional customer service.
• Is reliable, hardworking and happy to get stuck in when things get busy.
• Can think independently, use their initiative and make good decisions.
• Works well as part of a team.
• Is physically fit and capable of lifting, carrying and being on their feet throughout the day.
• Has a positive, practical attitude and enjoys a varied role.
• Takes pride in maintaining high standards throughout the shop.

You don’t need to be an expert in food, farming or retail. We’re happy to provide training, but we’re looking for someone who is curious, willing to learn and genuinely enthusiastic about local food and what we do here at Ardross.

The role will include:

• Providing exceptional customer service.
• Serving customers and operating the till.
• Receiving and unpacking deliveries from suppliers, couriers and haulage companies.
• Lifting, carrying and moving stock around the shop and store areas.
• Replenishing shelves and creating attractive displays.
• Making coffee and hot drinks.
• Taking telephone orders.
• Maintaining high standards of cleanliness and presentation throughout the shop.
• Working efficiently as part of a team during busy periods.
• Occasionally assisting other departments when required.

Previous retail experience is helpful but not essential. Full training will be provided for the right person.

Hours and Working Pattern

• 8.00am – 5.30pm.
• 4 or 5 days per week.
• Weekend working is required on a rota basis (currently around 3–4 weekend days per month).
• Immediate start available.

Benefits

• Competitive salary (£12.75 per hour).
• Staff discount.
• Pension scheme.
• Training and development opportunities.
• The chance to learn more about food production, farming and local food.
• Plenty of opportunities to sample products from our fantastic suppliers.

Ardross Farm Shop was proud to be named Runner-Up Best Small Farm Shop in the UK, and we’re looking for someone who shares our passion for great food and outstanding customer service.
